OOHS Phone Rule Causes Conflict "Fix?"

Phone rule?

As of this past year, OOHS's principal Monica Asher has made absurd rules about phones including having to hang them up on a phone pouch/holder. Because of this reason, many students have rebelled by not putting their phones up. which in result makes teachers tired of telling students to put up their phones every class period. This is a rule that affects both students and teachers heavily whether for the positive or the negative.

Students should have had a say in the rules.

Without the students, the school would not exist so why can't the students have a say in rules like this one. If it would make it easier and better to not have students rebel, why not have them help find the school a middle ground.

Idea to combat the issue

Every grade should have a board of 10-15 students and the way they are chosen is by a vote held for candidates who want to run for the board. The board will have the power to propose a new idea for the school or even a new rule. They will also have the ability to challenge a rule that the school has. students are also able to go up to these board members and tell them what bothers them about the school. The power distribution needs to be an 70:30 ratio students get 70% power and the admin gets 30% power.

How would the admin's power dynamic work?

Administrators will have control over necessary things like safety, school events (Hoco/Prom), and how money and resources are used. If the students want to change something that could impact the safety of school the admins can veto and take over control when needed.

Student happiness

Student happiness will increase dramatically if the school implements this. For the sole reason that students don't feel like they don't have control. Also students will be able to have their voices heard which is a great thing to have for student happiness.
